Andy Monks, is a Brisbane-based illustrator and artist. He grew up in various cities along the east coast of Australia and spent most of the time in the car between those cities drawing monsters and trying not to get motion sickness.
After studying the 'new' field of digital art after high school in the early '90s, he spent 11 years working commercially in advertising, print, multimedia, TV and film as a 3D animator and artist. His work included music videos for Silverchair and Something For Kate all the way to the 3D animated feature film 'Happy Feet' which won an Academy Award in 2006 for Best Animated Feature Film, the whole time developing his personal illustration and art style and deepening his understanding of the art of visual story telling.
In recent years, Andy has worked primarily in illustration. He is now actively working on some book projects due for release in 2011 as well as other commercial illustration for advertising and education. He also paints canvas and art pieces for fun and commission, regularly popping up in art shows around the world.
'I have had the pleasure of working with Andy on a few projects over the past 12 months and am always keen to employ his skills as he is not only versatile and extremely talented, but highly professional, efficient and 110% reliable. All of the illustrations he has supplied have been beyond expectations and have been incredibly well received by our clients as well as their target audiences. His style is unique and quirky, guaranteed to bring a smile to anyones face. I hope that we have many more opportunities to work with Andys talents in the future as it's always such a pleasure and he makes our lives so much easier!'
